The Artemis III mission represents NASA's ambitious plan to return humans to the Moon, building on the successes of Artemis I and Artemis II. This mission will be historic, as it aims to land the first woman and the next man on the lunar surface, further pushing the boundaries of human space exploration. Artemis III is designed to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon, paving the way for future missions to Mars and beyond.
The mission will use NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft to transport astronauts to lunar orbit. From there, astronauts will transfer to a lunar landing system to descend to the Moon's surface. The crew will conduct scientific research and technology demonstrations that will inform the development of future exploration technologies. Artemis III marks a critical step in NASA’s long-term goal of sustainable lunar exploration and international cooperation in space.
